Frequently Asked Questions

What types of programs do you offer?
The community engagement program seeks to address community trends and challenges as they occur. As a result, programs and workshops can change on a monthly basis. Our annual large scale community events (Celebrate Elmwood (June) and Breakfast with Santa (December)) feature entertainment and free food. Programs and events we’ve offered in the past include community beautification efforts, family baking day and community wellness retreats.
Do you offer volunteer opportunities?
Thanks for thinking of us. Volunteer opportunities are available at the center. Please contact our volunteer engagement team via adminassistant@elmwoodcrc.ca. Our team will discuss your interest with you and work with you to connect you to the right placement.
How do I find out what programs you have?
Our programs seeks to engage community members of all ages in a variety of ways. From cooking classes and employment workshops to group “field trips” to the Zoo we aim to build opportunities to connect you with your neighbors. All upcoming events are posted within the center and other local organizations as well as on social media. We utilize Facebook and Instagram to share all the events and information about the center.
Do you take clothing or housewares donations?
Thank you for thinking of us for your gift. Unfortunately, we do not accept individual community donations on a regular basis as our space is limited. Occasionally we will host community free store days and will put a call out for donations specifically for that event. Please email us at adminassistant@elmwoodcrc.ca to connect with our community engagement team and find out when our next donation drive is coming up.
Do you have elders or knowledge keepers on site?
All of our indigenous cultural programming is developed in consultation with knowledge keepers and/or elders and are facilitated by indigenous identifying facilitators.
