A practical, culturally informed resource designed to support women’s empowerment, connection and resilience through facilitated group learning.

Elmwood Community Resource Centre is pleased to share its Women’s Empowerment Group Session Manual & Participant Workbook as a free downloadable resource.

Developed through ECRC’s Still I Rise program, the resource supports work with South Asian, Southeast Asian, Black and Arab women and reflects a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach to gender-based violence support. It was created to help strengthen awareness, build connection and provide space for women to explore their identities, experiences, strengths and hopes for the future.

The manual includes structured session plans, facilitator guidance, group discussions, reflective exercises and participant activities. Topics include identity development, emotional awareness, stereotypes and expectations, advocacy, belonging, courage and personal resilience. The sessions are designed to help participants build trust, deepen self-awareness and recognize the strengths they carry within themselves and their communities.

This resource may be helpful for community organizations, facilitators, support workers and others delivering group-based programming for women.
